This Online Course Development Workshop is a three-week online workshop and is one pathway to online teaching certification at KSU. This training will explore aspects of online pedagogy, effective practices for online course design and introduce the Quality Matters (QM) Rubric for Online Courses which provides a framework for designing, developing, and improving online courses. This is the only CETL workshop that will lead to online teaching certification at KSU. You must be a current KSU instructor to register for this workshop.
This workshop is delivered in an online format. You will participate in synchronous and asynchronous online activities. You will have the opportunity to experience online instruction from a students' perspective, complete activities at your own pace, and explore various course tools.
By registering for this webinar, you are responsible for completing the 2 components of the workshop described below. This is part 1 of a 2 part workshop. (You do not need to register for Part 2. You will not find Part 2 for this OCD Workshop on the website). Please read below for more information.
After completing this training, you should be able to:
- Identify the underlying principles & essential standards of the QM rubric
- Use the Quality Matters rubric to develop and evaluate your online course
- Recognize and integrate effective practices in your online course design and delivery
- Identify the KSU groups that support online learning
- Describe the KSU online course submission and peer review processes
- Outline a potential module to use in your course
Participants will be required to complete the two components of the training. This includes:
- a live webinar (Nov 15 - 11:00-12:00) Information will be emailed to your kennesaw.edu address closer to the date of the webinar.
- an asynchronous online component, which will be available for three weeks (Nov 15 - Dec 6)
Note: This workshop assumes working knowledge of Desire To Learn (D2L). Otherwise, ITS Outreach (https://computertrain.kennesaw.edu) training on Desire To Learn must be obtained prior to this workshop.
