Getting HIP: Understanding the How and Why of High-Impact Educational Practices

High-impact practices (HIPs) are “teaching and learning practices that have been widely tested and have been shown to be beneficial for college students from many backgrounds” (AAC&U, 2013, n. p.).  These practices have been proven to contribute to student engagement, deep learning, persistence, and overall academic success.

This Institute is designed for full-time faculty who want to design, redesign, or enhance a course or program to incorporate one or more of the high-impact educational practice (HIPs), including: first-year seminars and experiences; common intellectual experiences; learning communities; writing-intensive courses; collaborative assignments and projects; undergraduate research; diversity/global learning; service-learning; community-based learning; internships; capstone courses and projects.

Please join us for a High-Impact Practices (HIPs) Keynote and Showcase at 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 24 in HS 1001 (Kennesaw campus).
Dr. George Kuh, a pre-eminent HIPs scholar, Director and Co-Principal Investigator for the National Institute for Learning Outcomes Assessment and founder of the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), will deliver a keynote address at 3 p.m. A showcase featuring faculty, staff, and students involved in various KSU HIPs will immediately follow the keynote address in HS 1000 (Indoor Plaza).
All KSU faculty and staff are invited to attend.
