This project brings together a small group of faculty who are interested in Global Learning in General Education. Ideally, the proposed Faculty Learning Community (FLC) will be multidisciplinary and devoted to exploring ways to incorporate global learning and intercultural competence into the general education curriculum. We will discuss the meaning of global education and its importance for students in an increasingly interconnected world, with a focus on how faculty can help provide students with needed skills. We would accomplish this through reading and discussion of several books on global learning, environmental sustainability, health and disease, and conflict and inequality. My hope is that our group would be able to examine these issues in depth, and by learning from one another, become better teachers.
