Participants will read and discuss José Antonio Bowen’s provocatively titled book and its vision of a face to face classroom stripped of all technology to promote greater engagement and learning. The book “Teaching Naked” is based on a simple premise: moving technology out of the classroom will enhance student learning. By classroom, Bowen means any face-to-face interaction. He actually makes extensive use of technology before or after in-person meetings, but chooses to privilege the human dimension when in direct contact with his students. Participants in this book club will discuss his vision for technology outside the classroom—for information delivery, engagement and assessment—and for naked teaching, a naked curriculum, and even a naked campus.
Limited to 15 participants. Each will receive a copy of the book.
