Peer Reviewer Training is now being offered for those interested in becoming more involved in KSU's Quality Matters internal online course reviews. This certification will be delivered as a three-week hybrid course and include a review of the QM program and its guiding principles. We will examine the KSU review process, delve deeper into the general standards, and provide participants the opportunity to practice writing feedback and reviewing a sample course. Individuals who complete this workshop will be eligible to serve as peer reviewers on KSU online course reviews. Prerequisites for being a peer reviewer include: online teacher certification from KSU and online teaching experience.

The purpose of this training will explore aspects of online pedagogy, effective practices for online course design and delivery, and introduce the Quality Matters (QM) Rubric for Online and Hybrid Courses that provides a framework for designing, improving, and delivering online courses. Since this workshop is delivered in a hybrid format, you will participate in synchronous and asynchronous online activities and one face-to-face session. In addition to identifying various resources and KSU groups that support effective online teaching and learning, we will conclude by outlining the online course submission and peer review processes at KSU. Any remaining time will be devoted to participant Q & A. At the completion of this workshop, you should be able to: * Identify the underlying principles & essential standards of the QM Rubric.

Being explicit with your expectations for students is crucial in helping them to succeed in any class. Utilizing rubrics is an easy way to communicate exactly what a student needs to do to earn specific grades on papers, projects, presentations etc. This workshop will provide an overview of why it is beneficial to use rubrics in your course, the different types of rubrics, how to construct an effective rubric, different tools available to help you, and will walk you through creating a rubric for an assignment you use.
